Fuerte San Gerónimo

It was built in orders of Don Gabriel Rojas to protect the bay of the many attacks. It is the list of the National Register of Historic Places. it is located near the Caribe Hilton in San Juan. 






Bastion de San Fernando



Bastion de San Fernando was used for protection. Men would shoot from the bastion to defend themselves from attacks. It is located in el Morro. It is a great place to visit and you can see a beautiful view from it.  

La Mallorquina

 La   Mallorquina is a famous and delicious restauraunt in Old San Juan. It was founded in 1848. It is a delicious place to go when you visit Old San Juan. It is located in San Francisco street.




Plaza de las Monjas

In the Plaza de las Monjas is close to the Hotel El Convento. The Museo del Niño is in this Plaza. You can enjoy of music and relax time. If you are hungry there are also good places close by to go eat.



San José Church

This Church was known as the Santo Tomas de Aquino Church. It is located Plaza de San José. This Church us currently under construction.



La Rogativa

La Rogativa is a very important statue in the history of Puerto rico. It is located in the Plazuela de la Rogativa. This statue was completed in 1917. La Rogativa has its own legend.



Pablo Casals Museum

This museum is based in musical instruments. It is located in the Plaza San Jose. In this museum you will learn about Pablo Casals life and his musical career. Ir you enjoy music it is a great placed to go and visit in the Old San Juan.



Galería Nacional

Galería Nacional is a museum next to Plaza San José where Puerto Ricans paintings from the 18th century are exhibited including José Campeche’s artwork.  This gallery is one of the oldest structures in Puerto Rico.



Tite Curet Statue

Tite Curet Statue was built in honor to Tite Curet. He was cpmposer and created 2000 salsa songs. 
This statue is located in the Plaza de Armas. 




Capitolio

The Capitolio was inagurated February 11,1929. Its is the home to Legislative Assembly and has the House of Representatives and Senate. 




Castillo San Felipe del Morro

Castillo San Felipe was built by the Spanish. It is a massive fortification to protect San Juan's Harbor. It is located in the headlands of Old San Juan. 



Casino de Puerto Rico

 The Antiguo Casino de Puerto Rico was designed in 1917. In 1955 it became the first home of the Puerto Rican Culture. Now a day it is used as the official Government Reception Center.





Teatro Tapia

Teatro Tapia was built in 1917. In 1955 it became the City's first performing art theater. This theater is named after Alejandro Tapia y Rivera. 



Escuela de Artes Plasticas

Escuela de Artes Plasticas was first known as Antiguo Manicomio Insular. This is a school of art and culture. It is located in Calle del Morro.

San Juan City Hall

The San Juan City Hall is also called the Alcaldia. It started its contrction i 1602 and was finally completed in 1789. The building contains a tourism information center and small gallery for periodic exhibitions. It is located next to the Plaza de Armas. 





Museo del Niño

This museum is for the children, located  in front of the San Juan Cathedral. They opened to the general public in 1993. It has 3 floors which are filled with exhibits for children in which they can interact with. It is a great place to bring the kids when you visit Old San Juan. The kids have fun and learn new things at the same time.


Casa Blanca

It was built in 1521. This was the house of Juan Ponce de Leon and his family. When Ponce de Leon died it was used as the residence of his descendants until the mid-18th century. It is located at the end of the Calle San Sebastian. 

Plaza Colón

This plaza was originally named St. James Square but was renamed in 1893 to honor Chritopher Columbus on the 400th anniversary of his discovery of Puerto Rico. Around the plaza you can find the Casino and Teatro Tapia.



Liga de Arte

Art League of San Juan has offered for forty years art courses to the general public. It is located behind the Totem and next to the Plaza de San José. It is great place to come and see different types of art. 

Polvorín de Santa Elena

Polvorín de Santa Elena is located very close to the Bastion de Santa Elena in El Morro.



Monumeto a Juan de Amezquita

This monument was to honor Amezquita he was a very important military captain. The monument was dedicated to him in 1925. It is located in el Morro and it is a big statue. 

Garita del Diablo

The "garitas" were used by the Spanish soldiers to protect the city walls at night and day. The Garita del Diablo was not like the others as those had rumors saying there were strange noises and spirits. It is in the Castillo San Cristobal. In this "garita" you can't enter like the others. This "garita" is the most known and it has left a story to tell in Puerto Rico.

Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña

The Instituto de Cultura was built in the 1840. It has the Museum of Puerto Rican Culture offering exhibits and galleries.It contains impressive collections of artifact including pottery, stone tools, and a recreation of Taíno village. It is a great place to come visits and learn about the history of Puerto Rico.




Hotel El Convento

Hotel El Convento before was an old monastery. It is know a great Hotel in Old San Juan. This hotel has been renovated many times. If you come and visit a place to stay would be Hotel El Convent which has good restaurants around it and has other historical places close to it. 







Raíces Fountain

Raíces Fountain is considered to be one of the most romantic spots in Old San Juan. It was completed May 1992.  The fountain has gorgeous statues. The beautiful fountain is located in the Paseo de la Princesa.
